Our Leadership

Pastors

At FBC Maize, we believe the Bible uses the terms pastor, elder, and overseer interchangeably. (To learn more, read here.) We also believe what the Bible sets forth as the best organizational model for the local church is an elder-led, congregationally governed assembly. FBC Maize has been blessed with godly men who give spiritual oversight to the congregation as pastor-elders. The following men meet the biblical qualifications for elders in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 and have been elected by the congregation to lead the church as they follow Christ:

Colin J. Smothers

Dalton Scott

Colin J. Smothers serves as the preaching pastor of First Baptist Maize. He earned his M.Div and Ph.D. in Biblical Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he has taught adjunctly. He also serves as executive director of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. A Kansas native and an alumnus of Kansas State University, Colin and his wife Elise have six children.

Deacons

The other ordained office in the church according to the New Testament is the office of Deacon. Deacons hold a ministerial office and are charged with assisting the pastoral team in overseeing the physical needs of the local church. The following deacons meet the qualifications for the office of Deacon set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and have been elected by the congregation:

Micah Wiebe

Toby Hawbaker

Kyle Smothers

Trevor Smothers
