What We Believe – First Baptist Church of Maize

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the Word of God, and the only certain, inerrant, infallible rule of faith and obedience (2 Tim. 3:16; Eph. 2:20).

We affirm the sovereignty of God in salvation, and thus we hold to the Southern Baptist Convention’s oldest statement of faith, “The Abstract of Principles.”

As a Southern Baptist church, we also hold to “The Baptist Faith and Message.” We also believe the First and Second London Baptist confessions of faith are useful for theological and biblical reflection and affirm the theological orthodoxy articulated in the Apostles Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon.

We believe these statements of faith to be accurate summaries of biblical teaching, and hold to them as such.
